Champagne

Delimited as an AOC in 1927, the Champagne region covers some 34,300 hectares of chalky soil across 319 villages, or crus, in northern France, farmed today by more than 16,000 growers. Its hillsides, houses and historic cellars were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, a tribute to a winemaking tradition built on centuries of blending across vintages, villages and grape varieties.
