Chateau de Fonbel

Rooted in vines that trace to Gallo-Roman times and revived in its modern form when Alain Vauthier acquired the property in 1971, Château de Fonbel farms some 16 hectares of clay, sand and gravel soils just outside the village of Saint-Émilion. Classified as Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, the estate is tended by the same team behind neighbouring Château Ausone and stands out for a blend carrying an unusually high share of Carmenère, among the largest on Bordeaux's Right Bank.
