Givry

Granted AOC status in 1946, Givry is a red-wine-focused appellation of the Côte Chalonnaise, its vineyards spread across some 270 hectares in the communes of Givry, Dracy-le-Fort and Jambles. With no Grand Cru vineyards in this part of Burgundy, its standing rests on 38 Premier Cru climats such as Clos Salomon and Cellier aux Moines, and on a royal reputation dating to King Henri IV, whose enthusiasm for the wine earned Givry the nickname "the Volnay of the Chalonnais."
