Mercurey

Granted AOC status on 11 September 1936, Mercurey is the largest and most productive of the Côte Chalonnaise's village appellations, its vineyards covering roughly 650 hectares across the communes of Mercurey and Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu. With no Grand Cru vineyards in this part of Burgundy, its reputation rests on 32 Premier Cru climats, whose deep-coloured, spicy Pinot Noir reds have made Mercurey the benchmark red wine of the Côte Chalonnaise.
