Domaine Georges Vernay

Founded in 1937 when Francis Vernay planted the steep granite slopes of the Coteau de Vernon above Condrieu, the estate passed in 1953 to his son Georges, later dubbed the 'Pope of Condrieu' for single-handedly reviving Viognier after the grape nearly vanished following the Second World War. Christine Vernay, the third generation, has directed the domaine since 1996, farming organically and extending the range into red Côte-Rôtie.
