Domaine de Montcalmes

Frédéric Pourtalié took over his family's vineyard in the Terrasses du Larzac in 1998, after training at some of the Languedoc and Rhône's most respected estates, and promptly pulled the fruit out of the local cooperative to bottle it himself. The 22-hectare, organically farmed estate ages its wines partly in barrels sourced from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, a detail that hints at Pourtalié's exacting standards on this limestone plateau.
