Domaine Jeanne Germain

Saumur-Champigny

The Domain

Jeanne has long been driven by her love of wine and passion for horses when she decides to take flight. She produces her first cuvée in 2019. Since then, with the help of her partner Florent, they have been devoted to cultivating their 1.7 hectares of vines in the Saumur-Champigny appellation in the Loire Valley, working alongside their horses Ben and Comtesse in a quest for harmony with nature.

Since childhood, Jeanne has been passionate about horses. After twelve years spent in the saddle, she feels the urge to connect with the earth beneath her feet and trains in animal traction—a new way of working with and feeling the land. This marks the beginning of an exceptional bond with her Ardennais horses, Ben and Comtesse. Florent soon joins the adventure and helps her grow the business.

The Style

It is therefore no coincidence that the Domaine du Bouchot was elected "Discovery of the Year 2022" by the Revue du Vin de France which underlines the quality of its first vintage, distinguished during a blind tasting. Antoine's philosophy: correct ripening of the grapes. The approach to the vineyard is played out in Burgundy style with a real reflection on the soil-vine-exposure balance. Once the harvest has entered the cellar, fermentation in stainless steel vats is naturally triggered by indigenous yeasts without adding sulfur until bottling. For the latter, light filtrations will suffice to affirm even more the refined style of the wines. Aging in concrete eggs, demi-muids of 8 to 10 wines from Burgundy friends also in biodynamics. Note that Antoine Gouffier is the only one in the appellation to make macerations, in particular with full vinification in barrels for some of his cuvées.
