Beaune

Granted AOC status in 1936, Beaune is the largest village appellation of the Côte d'Or, its roughly 410 hectares of vines wrapping around the historic wine capital of Burgundy on the Côte de Beaune. The appellation has no Grand Cru vineyards, yet more than three-quarters of its surface is classified Premier Cru across some 42 climats, and the town's Hospices de Beaune charity wine auction, held annually since the 19th century, remains Burgundy's most famous wine event.
