Nuits-Saint-Georges

Granted AOC status in 1936, Nuits-Saint-Georges lends its name to the entire Côte de Nuits, its roughly 300 hectares of vines spread across the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges and neighbouring Premeaux-Prissey. It holds no Grand Cru, but some 147 hectares are classified Premier Cru across forty-one climats, and the appellation's long history as Burgundy's principal wine-trading town has lent its name lasting commercial weight.
