Granted AOC status in 1937, Volnay lies in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, its roughly 210 hectares of oolitic limestone slopes rising between 230 and 280 metres above the village. The appellation has no Grand Cru vineyards, but its twenty-nine Premier Cru climats, long harvested for the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France, produce reds prized as among the most delicate and refined expressions of Pinot Noir in Burgundy, markedly lighter than the neighbouring wines of Pommard. Among the great wines of Volnay, you will find in particular Domaine Vincent Bouzereau Volnay 1er Cru 'Les Santenots' 2021 and Domaine Vincent Bouzereau Volnay Red 2023 and more at The Vintage Wine Club Hong Kong.
