Cote de Nuits

First recognised in 1937 as Vins Fins de la Côte de Nuits and renamed Côte de Nuits-Villages in 1964, the appellation covers roughly 150 hectares of predominantly Pinot Noir vineyards spread across five communes at the northern and southern ends of the Côte de Nuits: Fixin and Brochon, and Prémeaux-Prissey, Comblanchien and Corgoloin. With no Premier Cru or Grand Cru vineyards of its own, it has built its reputation instead on honest, food-friendly reds, traditionally prized as the everyday wine Henri IV wished every French family could share with their Sunday chicken.
