Bordeaux Left Bank Wine

Bordeaux's Left Bank lies west of the Gironde estuary and the Garonne, home to the Médoc communes of Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe as well as Graves, Pessac-Léognan and Sauternes. Its gravel-rich soils favour Cabernet Sauvignon-led blends, and it was this bank that the 1855 Classification ranked, crowning five First Growths that remain benchmarks today.
