Tasting notes:The non-dosage vintage bottling of Terre de Vertus is a remarkable expression of Champagne, sourced exclusively from two premier mid-slope parcels in Vertus—Les Barillers and Les Faucherets. These vineyards lie at the heart of the village's rolling hills, contributing depth and precision to the wine. Fermented and aged in old oak casks, both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place without the use of stainless steel, preserving the wine's complexity and character. After a minimum of four years of cellar aging before disgorgement, the result is a Champagne of exceptional purity, energy, and longevity. Widely regarded as one of the finest non-dosage cuvées in the region, Terre de Vertus continues to set the standard for grower Champagne.
About the winery:Larmandier-Bernier numbers among the Côte de Blanc's—and Champagne's—finest estates. Based in Vertus, the Larmandier family farm organically and harvest late, vinifying the resulting wines in wood. The result is vinous, elegantly muscular Champagnes that are concentrated but precise. In a region that still produces far too many meager, brittle wines, Larmander-Bernier reminds us of the plenitude and texture of which great Champagne is capable.
