The 2022 Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion is a vibrant and highly accomplished second wine from Pessac-Léognan, delivering both immediate appeal and impressive depth. The nose is intensely aromatic, combining dark berries such as blackberry, blueberry, and damson with floral notes of violet and rose petals, alongside hints of black pepper, graphite, and licorice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, juicy, and finely textured, with velvety tannins and a dense, fruit-driven core supported by subtle, well-integrated oak. A crisp acidity brings freshness and precision, leading to a long, balanced finish. Refined yet energetic, it reflects the modern, elegant style of the estate and pairs beautifully with roasted meats such as rack of lamb or beef.

Its vines rooted in land donated to the Carmelite order in 1584, Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion cultivates barely 4.7 hectares on gravel terraces at the edge of Bordeaux city, within the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Left outside the historic 1953 Graves classification, the small estate has instead built its reputation on an unusually Cabernet Franc-heavy blend and a striking modern winery, and has been owned by property developer Patrice Pichet since 2010.
