Tasting notes

The 2013 Amiral de Beychevelle, second wine of Château Beychevelle, is a light-to-medium-bodied Saint-Julien with a deep garnet colour showing purple hues. The nose combines fresh red and black fruit with oak, spice and tobacco. On the palate it's soft and well-balanced, with smooth tannins and a fresh, fruit-driven finish.

More About The Winery

Its name drawn from the old Gascon 'Baisse Voile' — a naval salute once required of ships passing the estate — Château Beychevelle traces its grand château to 1565, its vineyard now covering some 90 hectares on gravel rises above the Gironde in Saint-Julien. Classified a Quatrième Cru Classé in 1855, the estate is instantly recognisable by the dragon-prowed boat on its label and has been jointly owned by Suntory and the Castel family since 2011.
