Sourced from old vines within the Pommard appellation, this cuvée shows the dark fruit, firm structure and savoury depth for which the village is known. Expect black cherry and plum fruit, notes of dried herbs, earth and a touch of spice from careful oak ageing, framed by Pommard's characteristically grippy but well-integrated tannins. It is a wine with the stuffing to develop further with a few years in the cellar.

Domaine François d'Allaines is a Meursault-based producer that sources fruit from old vines across a range of Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise appellations, bottling each parcel separately to let the individual terroir speak. The domaine has built a reputation among Burgundy specialists for well-priced, purely made wines — both reds and whites — that consistently over-deliver relative to their appellation, with old-vine Pommard among its more sought-after red bottlings.
