Tasting notes
Quartz Blanc opens with white flowers, honey and citrus, quickly joined by fleshy green fruit and a curl of curry leaf and smoke. On the palate the wine is broad and harmonious, balancing nectar and candied lemon against sweet spice, with a sappy, gently bitter finish that reflects the granite arenas the vines grow on. Aged in older, low-toast barrels, it shows real textural depth without losing the freshness typical of Ajaccio whites.
More About The Winery
Domaine de Vaccelli, in the Taravo valley of southern Corsica, has been run since 2000 by Gérard and Nathalie Courrèges, the third generation of a family that first planted the property in 1962. The 20-hectare vineyard sits on sandy-granitic hillside soils and has been certified organic since 2019, with vines planted at relatively low density and covered with herbaceous ground cover to protect against erosion. Quartz Blanc draws on the domaine's commitment to Corsica's near-forgotten native white varieties, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged gently to preserve their distinct aromatic identities.
