Tasting notes

The 2018 shows the polished, layered style Malartic-Lagraviere has built its reputation on, with smoke, tobacco and roasted coffee notes framing waves of sweet black, red and blue fruit. Silky, well-integrated tannins give the wine an elegant, lush texture despite the ripeness of the vintage, and the finish carries good length and freshness. It is a wine built for the cellar, needing a decade to fully unwind.

More About The Winery

Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere is a Cru Classe de Graves in the Pessac-Leognan appellation, classified for both its red and white wines in 1953 and 1959. The Bonnie family acquired the estate in 1997 and undertook a major programme of vineyard expansion and investment, working with consulting oenologist Michel Rolland, growing the vineyard from 19 to 53 hectares. The property, whose name draws on the Comte de Malartic's naval history, is regarded today as one of the more consistent and refined addresses in Pessac-Leognan.
