Tasting notes

A transparent, pale yellow white with a lifted nose of spiced lemon, ginger and gooseberry alongside white peach and yellow apple. The Semillon lends roundness and volume to the Sauvignon's natural liveliness, and fresh acidity carries through to a long, dense finish. Young vintages show bright, pure fruit, while bottle age typically brings out notes of dried and candied fruit.

More About The Winery

Chateau Carbonnieux traces its origins to 1234, but it was the Benedictine monks of Sainte-Croix Abbey, who acquired the property in 1740, who turned it into a serious wine estate, pioneering blending techniques and building some of the most modern cellars of their era. The wines gained an international reputation, reputedly reaching the Ottoman court, and were visited by Thomas Jefferson in 1787. Classified as a Cru Classe de Graves for both its red and white wines, the estate has been owned by the Perrin family since 1956 and is particularly known for the quality of its whites.
