Tasting notes
An exciting vintage, where Yquem's diverse terroirs played a major role in juggling sugar levels that varied between rich, botrytised grapes and those less affected by noble rot, but full of amazing flavours that contributed enormously to the wine's aromatic complexity. The cellar team still remembers the heady fragrance that emerged from the winepress
More About The Winery
Château d'Yquem was uniquely classified Premier Cru Supérieur in the historic 1855 Bordeaux classification, a rank held by no other Sauternes estate. The property has been shaped by two families across more than four centuries: the Sauvage family from 1593, and the Lur-Saluces family from 1785, before LVMH acquired full ownership between 1996 and 1998. The estate spans 126 hectares, with around 100 hectares in production, planted to roughly 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes are harvested only once they have been touched by noble rot, picked across as many as six or seven successive passes through the vineyard to select each berry at its peak, a level of precision that defines Yquem's singular richness and longevity.
