Tasting notes: The vine age helps to give concentration of flavour and a refreshing, slatey character to this richly textured wine. Zesty lemon notes sit against a backdrop of ripe stone fruit and touches of white flowers. Farmed organically, fermented with native yeasts and with no additions other than a small amount of sulphur at bottling.

About the Winery

In June 1999 after a BTS viti-œno and a first experience at the Château de Pibarnon in Bandol, Christophe Ferrandis joined his uncle in Corsica and worked for the Marana cooperative in Borgo.

In February 2001, while Christophe Ferrandis imagined clearing maquis to plant his own vines, SAFER offered him to buy an old 4.5 ha vineyard in Patrimonio, the Clos Signadore.

September 2001, First harvests at the Clos Signadore. First vintages of Clos Signadore Red et Rosé under the white label. From this first vintage onwards, the color white is chosen to represent vintages without oak aging (A Mandria today).

2007 is the first vintage of Clos Signadore Red under black label. The acquisition of demi-muids (500-liter barrels) from a Burgundy cooper allows a longer and more ambitious aging to reveal all the qualities of Nielluciu from Clos Signadore.

2008 is the first vintage of A Mandria di Signadore white. It is the very first Vermentinu of the domain.

2010 was the first year of certification in organic viticulture at Clos Signadore. While the organic approach was still very minority in Corsica, Christophe decides to put in phase his deep convictions on the respect of nature and his work in the vineyards. Christophe's approach is motivated by awareness of the dangerousness of conventional treatments for human health.

2011 was the first vintage of A Mandria di Signadore Red. Since then, the estate's wines are structured into 2 branches: Clos Signadore under a black label, which brings together vintages aged in demi-muids and the A Mandria di Signadore branch, recognizable by the white label and which signs wines aged in vats.

2014 is the first vintage of Clos Signadore white under a black label.
