Tasting notes
A concentrated, richly texturized Wachau Smaragd crafted from 80-year-old vines in Ried Bach, a steeply terraced amphitheater in the Wösendorfer Gaisberg. The nose is complex and expressive, revealing notes of white peach, fresh pear, and spiced apricots, subtly layered with dried flowers, green asparagus, and a hint of flint smoke. On the palate, it is dense and juicy, balancing its powerful body with a vital, well-integrated acidity and a deep, salty mineral line that carries through to a long, refined finish. An exceptional food wine that pairs beautifully with roasted pork belly, Wiener Schnitzel, or rich seafood dishes.
More About The Winery
Domäne Roland Chan is a certified sustainable boutique estate in Austria's Wachau, founded in 2017 by Roland Müksch and Dr. Sharon Chan. The family tends just over two hectares of steep, hand-worked dry-stone terraces across four premium sites in Weißenkirchen and Wösendorf. Guided by winemaker Christoph Donabaum, the estate follows a strictly manual, low-intervention philosophy. They focus on extended fine lees aging and bottle their wines unfiltered to preserve the authentic, complex expression of their old-vine terroirs.
