Northern Rhône Syrah Spotlight: Pierre-Jean Villa, Hugo et Pauline Villa and Domaine Chifflet

October 30, 2026

Three names, one Rhône family tree. This month we put three Northern Rhône Syrahs in the spotlight, all at special case pricing in Hong Kong.

The wines

  • 'Gamine' Syrah 2023, Pierre-Jean Villa: a bright, juicy Syrah, perfect for everyday drinking
  • Crozes-Hermitage 2022, Hugo et Pauline Villa: the largest appellation of the Northern Rhône, with dark fruit and pepper
  • Saint-Joseph 2021, Domaine Chifflet: granite-grown Syrah from the west bank of the Rhône, fresh and savoury

Why Northern Rhône Syrah?

In the Northern Rhône, Syrah is the only red grape. Grown on steep granite slopes, it gives wines of black fruit, violet, black pepper and fresh acidity, often with more finesse than weight. They pair beautifully with grilled meats, roast duck and Cantonese char siu.
