Tasting notes
The 2016 La Sirène de Giscours, second wine of the third-growth Château Giscours, is a refined and fruit-forward Margaux. It shows dark plum, black cherry, cassis and cocoa on the nose, with soft, silky tannins and a touch of delicate spice on the palate. Elegant and approachable, with lovely freshness throughout.
More About The Winery
First documented in 1330 as a fortified stronghold and producing wine since at least 1552, Château Giscours sits on a gravel plateau in the Margaux appellation, its vineyard today spanning some 102 hectares. Ranked a Troisième Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification, the estate was transformed after businessman Eric Albada Jelgersma's 1995 purchase, extensive replanting since lifting its Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend into the front rank of modern Margaux.
