More About The Winery
Domaine La Terrasse d’Elise is a highly regarded artisan estate located in Aniane, in the Languedoc. It was founded in 1998 by Xavier Braujou, who gradually built the domaine from a few small parcels into a benchmark producer focused on low-yield, terroir-driven wines. Today, the estate remains family-run and dedicated to meticulous vineyard work.
The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils with rolled pebbles, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate balanced by altitude and cooling influences. The domaine focuses on varieties such as Cinsault, Carignan, Mourvèdre, and Syrah, alongside small plantings of white grapes. Old vines and very low yields are central to the estate’s philosophy, producing wines with concentration and freshness.
Winemaking is minimalist and precise, with indigenous yeasts, gentle extraction, and limited use of oak to preserve purity of fruit. Many cuvées are produced as single-varietal expressions, highlighting both grape character and terroir. Domaine La Terrasse d’Elise is now considered one of the leading estates of the Languedoc, known for elegant, expressive wines that combine Mediterranean depth with remarkable finesse.
