Tasting notes
The 2024 Juliénas "Cuvée Tradition" from Domaine du Clos du Fief is a vibrant and expressive 100% Gamay, capturing the depth and character of this historic Beaujolais cru. Aromas of ripe red berries and mulberries unfold with delicate rose petal notes, layered with a subtle wet stone minerality.
On the palate, the wine is supple and juicy, built around a core of fresh red fruit. The texture is silky and balanced, supported by fine structure and lively acidity. The finish is long and refined, marked by a gentle spicy lift that adds complexity and persistence.
Elegant yet approachable, this Juliénas delivers both immediate pleasure and classic cru Beaujolais precision.
More About The Winery
Located in the heart of Beaujolais, Domaine du Clos du Fief is a 17-hectare family estate now led by Sylvain Tête, who returned after formative experiences at Château Thivin and Domaine Saumaize. Bringing fresh energy and vision, he works with permanent cover crops, under-vine cultivation, and small chenillard engines to farm even the steepest slopes with care and precision.
In the cellar, Sylvain remains true to Beaujolais tradition, employing semi-carbonic macerations and submerged caps, techniques that highlight the finesse and fruit purity of Gamay while ensuring structure and balance.
The wines of Clos du Fief are gaining attention for their authenticity, terroir expression, and ageing potential. As noted by William Kelley (The Wine Advocate):
"These new releases show considerable promise, highlighting the progress that has been made in the last few years, and it's clear that this is a domaine to watch."
