    Tasting notes

The 2024 Côte de Brouilly "Les 7 Vignes" from Château Thivin is a vibrant organic Gamay offering a refined and terroir-driven expression of Mont Brouilly. The wine shows a bright garnet-red colour, with lifted aromatics of hawthorn, peony, and fresh cherry, complemented by subtle floral complexity.

On the palate, the texture is round and harmonious, built around ripe black fruit and a distinct volcanic mineral backbone. The wine remains light to medium-bodied, with elegant structure and fine tannins bringing precision and balance. A gentle spicy note emerges on the finish, adding depth and persistence.

Elegant yet structured, this cuvée combines immediate charm with ageing potential, expected to evolve beautifully over the next 5 to 10 years.

    More About The Winery

Founded in the 14th century and acquired by the Geoffray family in 1877, Château Thivin is the oldest estate on the slopes of the Côte de Brouilly, and today stands as one of the reference domaines of Beaujolais.

The estate’s vineyards are planted on steep, blue granite slopes that define the unique terroir of Côte de Brouilly, producing wines of intensity, freshness, and mineral elegance. The focus is on Gamay, crafted into reds that combine vibrant fruit, floral aromatics, and fine tannins, with an ageing potential far beyond the expectations of most Beaujolais wines.

Under the stewardship of Claude Geoffray and his son Claude-Edouard, Château Thivin embraces traditional methods, including hand harvesting, semi-carbonic maceration, and ageing in large oak foudres, ensuring wines that are both authentic and terroir-driven.

Internationally acclaimed, Château Thivin is praised by critics for producing serious, structured Beaujolais that rivals top Burgundy, making it a favorite among sommeliers and collectors.
