Tasting notes
The Loire’s 2023 vintage was warmer than average but saved by timely rains, yielding whites with ripe fruit and lively acidity. While Domaine Philippe Alliet is best known for its Cabernet Franc-based Chinon Rouge, the estate also produces a rare Chinon Blanc from old-vine Chenin Blanc (likely sourced from a small parcel within their vineyards).
A vibrant mix of ripe orchard fruit (yellow apple, quince), citrus zest (lemon, grapefruit), and floral honeyed notes, with a touch of wet stone minerality. Hints of white peach and chamomile may emerge with aeration.
More About The Winery
Since 1985, Domaine Philippe Alliet has set the benchmark for Cabernet Franc in Chinon. Now run with son Pierre, the estate farms 19ha organically, across gravel, limestone, and tuffeau soils that bring depth and precision to the wines.
With low yields, native yeasts, and minimal oak, Alliet crafts pure, vibrant, age-worthy wines. Highlights include the concentrated Vieilles Vignes, structured L’Huisserie, and a rare, elegant cabernet francs.
