Tasting Notes
The wine opens with delicate fruity and milky nuances, gradually unfurling into a refined bouquet of plum, almond, and dried flowers—evoking the softness of late summer turning into autumn. With air, the nose deepens into layers of baked apple, marzipan, quince, bread-and-butter, a testament to patient élevage. Enthusiasts also highlight evocative accents of clove, yeast, grape skin, chalk, and orchard fruits.
On the palate, Les Massales strikes immediately with its lively, petulant effervescence and crisp, bracing acidity. The texture is beautifully balanced—elegant, rounded, and lightly creamy—while maintaining energy and precision. Flavours of lemon, quince, chalk, and a subtle saline edge bring definition and freshness. The finish is long, decisive, and mouth-watering, showcasing the cuvée’s concentration and finesse.
Featuring a fine, persistent perlage, a medium body, and vibrant medium-plus acidity, this Extra-Brut Champagne remains very dry, amplifying its tension, purity, and mineral-driven profile. A superb expression of Tellier’s terroir-focused style—fresh, sculpted, and quietly complex.
More About The Winery
Located in Moussy near Épernay, between the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, Champagne Tellier is a rising grower estate at the heart of the region. With 7 hectares in Moussy and Pierry (the historic Domaine des Conardins) and another 2 hectares across Chavot, Fontaine/Aÿ, and Cramant, the domaine farms 13 plots, each vinified separately to showcase its unique terroir.
The vineyards are planted primarily to Pinot Meunier (59%), balanced with Chardonnay (35%) and a touch of Pinot Noir (6%). Deeper soils over chalk in Moussy and Pierry give wines structure and length, while the chalky terroirs of Chavot, Aÿ, and Cramant bring elegance, minerality, and finesse.
A new chapter began in 2014, when the estate was acquired by the Moulin and Cathiard families, bringing fresh vision and energy. Today, Champagne Tellier is celebrated for Champagnes that combine power, elegance, and precise terroir expression, crafted with respect for nature and tradition.
