Tasting notes
A rare white from a domaine known for its benchmark Nuits-Saint-Georges reds, this Chardonnay expresses the elegance and restraint of the Côte de Nuits terroir. The bouquet is delicate yet refined, with notes of white peach, crisp green apple, and lemon blossom, underpinned by hints of toasted almond and subtle oak. The palate is fresh and finely structured, showing excellent balance between vibrant acidity and creamy texture. A chalky minerality drives the long, clean finish.
More About The Winery
Founded in 1925, Domaine Henri Gouges is one of the most iconic estates of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy. With 14.5 hectares of prime vineyards, including seven renowned Premier Cru sites, the domaine has built a reputation for crafting age-worthy, terroir-driven Pinot Noir of incredible precision and purity.
Henri Gouges was among the pioneers of estate bottling in Burgundy, beginning in 1933 alongside estates like Marquis d’Angerville. His philosophy of low yields and meticulous vineyard care set the tone for generations to come. Today, the domaine is run by the third and fourth generations — Pierre and Christian Gouges, together with Pierre’s son Gregory, who oversees winemaking.
These are profound, expressive Burgundies that marry power with elegance. Dark fruit, spice, and mineral undertones reflect the limestone-rich terroirs, while the long aging potential makes them prized additions to serious collectors’ cellars.
