Tasting notes:"The 2014 Roc de Cambes has a lovely bouquet—very pure and intense—with black cherries, blueberry fruit and crushed rose petal that develops with time. The palate is medium-bodied, with fleshy ripe red and black fruit, supple tannin, hints of orange zest and pomegranate and quite a structured finish that just cuts away a little swiftly on the aftertaste." Located in the Côtes-de-Bourg appellation, at the foot of the citadel of Bourg, the Château du Roc de Cambes is one of the two estates of François Mitjaville. Comprising, from the Gironde, three successive slopes facing south, this estate that has crossed the centuries consists of an amphitheater of hillsides and a magnificent 14th century cellar. In his own particular style, François Mitjaville is devoted to the quality of his wines, which have enabled him to stand up to the great names of Bordeaux in blind tastings.
Located on a beautiful clay-limestone soil with a southern exposure, the vines of Roc de Cambes are the object of every attention to produce an exceptional and unique wine in the appellation. The control of yields (10 to 40hl/ha depending on the vintage) is essential (short and precise pruning, green harvesting etc...). The quality of the raw material is decisive and the traditional vinification only emphasizes and expresses the potential of the grapes.
