Tasting notes: The 2016 vintage of Domaine ROLET Arbois 'Vin Jaune' continues the tradition of excellence with its distinctive profile. The nose is expressive, featuring aromas of roasted nuts, dried fruits, and spices, along with a subtle floral note. On the palate, it delivers a robust and complex flavor profile with dominant notes of walnuts, green almonds, and dried fruits. The wine’s oxidative character is well-integrated, providing a smooth mouthfeel and balanced by a refreshing acidity. The finish is exceptionally long, leaving a lasting impression of nutty and slightly salty flavors.
Domaine Rolet was created by Désiré Rolet in 1942 as one of the gems of the Jurassian vineyards. His four children, Pierre, Eliane, Guy et Bernard all took over and shared roles to work within the estate. In a span of two generations and thanks to their hard work, the Rolet family has become one of the top wineries in the Jura.
Their wines reflect the richness of the terroir through the its local grape varietals (white : Chardonnay and Savagnin and red : Poulsard, Pinot Noir and Trousseau) and all its appellations : Arbois, Côtes du Jura, L’Étoile and Château-Chalon.
Domaine Rolet is the project of families who wanted to establish a Domaine between tradition and modernity, respecting the Jura wines great diversity.
These 3 families are the Devillard family (winemakers in Bourgogne for 5 generations and owners of Château de Chamirey in Mercurey, Domaine des Perdrix in Côte de Nuits, Domaine de la Ferté in Givry and Domaine de la Garenne in Mâconnais), the Flambert family (hotels owners for several generations), and the Dupuis family (entrepreneurs family, specialised in martial arts equipment).
They led the Rolet production to a high level of excellence, each and every vintage. Their philosophy is based on meticulous attention to vineyards, small yields and optimal ripening of grapes. Since June 2018, Cédric Ducoté has taken over the direction of the Estate, and is working with ambition and meticulous precision to continue to produce typical Jura wines of high quality.Since his arrival, the reflection to work in organic culture was initiated and in 2020, a part of the vineyards are now in organic conversion.
