Alain Jaume - Chateauneuf du Pape - Domaine Grand Veneur "Le Miocene" - Rouge - 2016 - 3000 ml
WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING
“Floral, garrigue notes mark the nose of the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Miocene. This full-bodied wine has ripe black cherry fruit, creamy tannins, tremendous power and length but loss of detail or precision. Licorice and almost amaro-like notes linger on the finish. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.” 93 points, Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate
In the 14th century, during their stay in Avignon, the popes built a papal castle in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Impressed by the area's exceptional “terroir”, they planted vineyards around the castle on terraces covered with smooth rounded pebbles. Established in the northern part of Châteauneuf du Pape, the Jaume family has been dedicated to the art of wine-growing since 1826. This venerable profession is their legacy, but above all it is their passion, requiring discipline, perseverance and respect for nature and the challenges she presents them with. Their aim, as skilled wine growers, is to produce, carefully and lovingly, wines that are intense, rich and complex and that reflect and embody the wonderful terroir of the southern Rhône Valley.
Soil type: Châteauneuf du Pape vineyards are mostly located on plateaux. Stony-clay soil covered with large rolled stones. Some plots are more sandy.
Grape variety: Grenache noir mostly, Syrah, Mourvèdre…
